The press played a major role in spreading cultural and political awareness during the intellectual renaissance that the Islamic world witnessed at the beginning of the twentieth century, and Najaf al-Ashraf, the center of the seminary and religious authority, was not isolated from this trend in the field of social and political change as a result of accelerating events, especially the rise of the Persian constitutional revolutions 1905-1911 AD and the Ottoman revolution 1908 AD. The Persian magazine Durrat al-Najaf appeared in the year 1328/1910 AD by order of the political religious authority. The highest authority in Najaf, represented by the authority of Sheikh Muhammad Kadhim al-Khorasani (the Akhund), in order to explain its point of view on the reasons for the deviation of the Persian Constitutional Revolution and to repel the suspicions of secularists by directly addressing the Iranian people to refute the false propaganda uttered by the religious authority in the corridors of the Council and the media and cultural forums controlled by secularists. The magazine issued eight issues written by its creator, Sheikh Muhammad al-Mahallati, and then stopped publishing. The researcher (after Arabizing it) divided its activities into axes.
