Notes	Research Objectives: This article explores changing attitudes toward Islam and the concepts and perceptions related to it that witnessed significant development during a period in which the fundamental connections between Anglo-American strategic interests led to them increasingly coming into contact with Muslim-majority governments and cultures. Study Methodology: Using historical analysis, the article examines selected primary literature to understand the development of perceptions and understandings about Islam and Muslims within American and British policy-making circles during the period of European colonialism. Results: The main outcome is to determine the extent to which governments were influenced by perceptions And the concepts related to Islam and Muslims, not only through the nature of the events and issues that politicians and officials were dealing with, but also through the changing cultural transformations that are occurring in America and Britain. Originality of the research: The originality of the article lies in its unique systematic approach to researching the perceptions and concepts of American-British policy makers about Islam, based on their knowledge and experiences. To achieve this, the article proposes an approach to discussing the relationship between Islam and the West that avoids commenting or criticizing the validity of various observations and opinions and instead embraces the idea of deepening our understanding of the source of perceptions and concepts as a basis for improving dialogue in the future.
