Notes
The research aims to create clothing designs that keep pace with international fashion trends and suit the youth group between the ages of 20 and 30 years, inspired by the art of the Ebru in terms of it being an Islamic Ottoman art practiced by Ottoman artists to serve other arts such as manuscript binding, Arabic calligraphy, and photography. Since Ottoman artists tended not to sign their works, especially those used in binding manuscripts, in addition to the possibility of rebinding manuscripts at a later time, this made dating Ottoman Ibru works a challenge. From this challenge, I studied the art historically and how it works by making artistic paintings similar to the Ibru art, applying them to several different materials of paper and different fabrics, and conducting some physical tests. Through these paintings, clothing designs were made using natural elements and vocabulary in implementing lively clothing designs. The spirit of the Ebru in terms of color and decorative areas achieves the aesthetic and functional values of the art of the Ebro.
