Notes Research on the group of women in Algiers society has remained far from the attention of researchers. Did this silence have anything to do with this group staying at home and not working in the various ranks of the social ladder alongside men? There has been mention in Western literature of men’s jealousy of women and girls, describing them as those who stay at home and only rarely leave it. This description, along with some other readings about this group - marginalized in their eyes - began to arouse in my mind a deep curiosity to know more about this group. There is no doubt that the interest in the political, administrative and military aspects prevented us from focusing on the social aspect, which is full of important and basic topics that are no less important than the aforementioned aspects. Getting to know the group of women and their daily lives is one of the basic aspects that actually brings us closer to reaching a description of the lives of this group and reveals to us the extent of their challenge to the difficulties.
