This study examined the role of the ruler Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah in supporting the British during World War I and his political, economic and social impact on the internal situation in Kuwait. Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah played a prominent role in providing support to the British authorities during World War I. Before the occupation of the city of Basra by British forces, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah declared his absolute loyalty to the British authorities. After the Ottoman Empire entered the war and the British forces occupied the city of Basra, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah provided all forms of support (moral, logistical, military, and material) to the British forces. After the death of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah on November 28, 1915, his two sons, Sheikh Jaber and Sheikh Salem, assumed power. Immediately after assuming power, they declared their loyalty and obedience to the orders of the British authorities and provided all forms of support to the British forces during the occupation of the rest of Iraq. The war and the position of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah and after him his two sons, Sheikh Jaber and Sheikh Salem, had political, economic and social repercussions and impacts on the internal affairs of Kuwait.
