Notes
This research deals with the emergence of the term political economy in the Islamic world, its comparison in Arabic, Turkish, and Urdu literature, and its relationship to the French term économie politique and the English term political economy, going beyond the reference to the originator of the term, and the issue of appropriateness in choosing the nomenclature between the translated word and the original term. The main purpose of the research is related to the cognitive process that generated the term: Does it take the direction of building on what exists, or does it declare a break with it? Accordingly, the issue of the development of writing must be highlighted from the perspective of real life in Muslim societies. What makes it necessary to move from studying the history of Islamic economic thought to studying the history of economic thought in these societies.
