Notes	This research sheds light on the effective role of Arabic language and its teaching role in Turkish society over numerous centuries. The research deals with the importance of Arabic language and its influence on the Turkish society from the emergence of Ottoman period till the modem period. As well as its introduction as an independent department within Turkish Universities, both public and private, and its teaching at the primary, intermediate and secondary levels within the schooling system. The Arabic language went through various stages within Turkey, reflecting the circumstances of the time that the country was passing through. During the Ottoman era the Arabic language was given special consideration and had a high standing amongst the Ottoman scholars and sultans. The numerous treatise reflects this together with the Arabic schools that were a characteristic of those times. Tilings started to decline from the time of the Republic, which was accompanied by the change of the characters of the Turkish language from the Arabic alphabet to Latin, known as the "alphabet revolution", in 1928. From hereon the Arabic language began to decline gradually in Turkey and reached the degree of being treated as a foreign language like all other languages. In the present day re-interested has been shown as in the past and Arabic bemg reintroduces within the various education stages: primary, intermediate, preparatory, religious high schools and universities. Tins is beside its introduction as to the independent departments that have been established in some Turkish universities using various curriculums with the support of specialised academics in this field.
