Notes This study provides a description of a number of sites providing services and health care in Egypt at the end of the nineteenth century and the twentieth century AD through the official documents of the Egyptian government contained in a number of offices, ministries, departments, and bodies, with a clarification and explanation of their budgets, and their material and logistical needs for funds and equipment, to provide these services to pilgrims every year. This study also deals with documents of health services provided to pilgrims in that period that witnessed many multiple political fluctuations, including the beginning of the English occupation. of Egypt in 1882 AD, and the decline of Ottoman influence over Egypt, and over the Hijaz, which came under the influence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after its establishment in 1932 AD. These events affected the methods and mechanisms of providing these services and health care to Egyptian pilgrims, and also to pilgrims passing through Egyptian land and sea routes, which is an addition to previous studies and works that dealt with the topic from different angles. This study also touched on some of the literature that dealt with this topic, which presented The Arab Library has incorrect, or sometimes uncertain, information about the extent of the Egyptian administration’s interest in providing these health services, and what this study sought to respond to in a scientific manner through what was stated in official Egyptian documents. On the other hand, this study sought to uncover the terms and documentary terms that were officially used in this health, administrative, financial, and maritime field, and other terms used during the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, which were recognized and used by official employees in recording documents and official records that were produced during that period.
