It is possible to talk about a librarianship activity in the Islamic world, which started with the preservation of texts containing the texts of the Quran and Hadith in mosques, developed through madrasahs, and became institutionalized through foundations. It is known that great importance was given to books and libraries during the Ottoman period, and some studies were carried out to establish libraries, monitor their current status and preserve collections. Despite this, it has been observed that not all existing books can be preserved. XX. At the beginning of the century, a number of studies were carried out by the Ministry of Education to determine the status of foundation libraries and collections within the borders of the Ottoman Empire. For this purpose, a letter was written to the Yemen and Hejaz Education Inspectorate to determine the current situation of the libraries in Medina and a report was requested about the libraries in Medina. In this study, the beginning of libraries in the Islamic world is mentioned and then the 20th century. A report was presented about the current situation of 17 libraries in Medina at the beginning of the century, in which Mustafa Asım Efendi from the Libraries Department of the Ministry of Education gave information. Additionally, a letter containing Mustafa Asım Efendi's recommendations to the Medina-i Münevvere Guard regarding the condition of these libraries has been added.
