The trading of wheat was part of a large trading business which was carried out with the neighboring lands of Iraq during the Ottoman period. This research deals with the economic history of Iraq especially ‘The Trade of Wheat in Ottoman Iraq1700 - 1914”. The research attempts to explain the crops and products of Iraq which were among the exported goods of the country at that time. A researcher in the economic history will naturally face difficulties while researching in such a topic because of the scattered information. The research addresses the geographical locations of the wheat cultivated areas as well as the trading of wheat inside Iraq and outside it. Further, the research deals with the gradual outside expansion of the wheat trading in the second half of the nineteenth century and discusses the markets of this crop and the difficulties entailed in the trading. The research has shown the role of each willaya, region, in the cultivation and trading of this crop as well the significant impact of the wheat in the economy of the Ottoman Iraq. The research depends on various references and resources. تعد تجارة الحنطة جزءا من تجارة أوسع كانت تجري في العراق خلال العصر العثماني مع المناطق المجاورة ؛ لذا فالبحث يتعلق بالتاريخ الاقتصادي للعراق "تجارة الحنطة في العراق العثماني 1700-1914"، و هي محاولة للاهتمام بالمحاصيل و المنتوجات الأخرى التي كانت ضمن صادرات العراق آنذاك، و مما لا شك فيه أن الباحث في التاريخ الاقتصادي يواجه صعوبة في مثل هذه المواضيع لتناثر المعلومات، و قد تناول البحث التوزيع الجغرافي لزراعة الحنطة، و كذلك تجارة الحنطة داخليا و خارجيا، و تطرق إلى توسع تجارتها الخارجية في النصف الثاني من القرن التاسع عشر بشكل تدريجي، من خلال الاستعانة بجداول و إحصاءات تتعلق بالموضوع، و تطرق البحث إلى تنوع أسواقها، و معوقات تجارتها، و قد أظهر البحث دور كل ولاية في زراعة هذا المحصول و تجارته و مكانته في اقتصاد العراق العثماني، و قد اعتمد البحث على مصادر متنوعة كان من بينها ملاحظات الرحالة و مشاهداتها، و مؤلفات المؤرخين العراقيين، و مراجع معاصرة، من أجل أن تسهم الدراسة في تشجيع الباحثين على البحث في الجانب الاقتصادي و الاجتماعي من تاريخ العراق الحديث.
