Notes This research deals with the study and analysis of the idea of the outer portico, or what is known as the shed that precedes the Ottoman religious buildings, which the Ottomans inherited from their Seljuk ancestors, with an analysis of the origin of its origin in the East and West of the Islamic world and its most important models, in addition to studying the architectural composition and construction engineering of the models of sheds in the Ottoman religious buildings, while carrying out an analytical study of the types of these sheds and the development of their shapes with the aim of adding another additional space to the buildings attached to them, perhaps as an alternative to the courtyard, which is vacant. Among these types are: 1- The shed that precedes the building on the axis of the mihrab. 2- The shed that is in front of the building other than the axis of the mihrab (side axis). 3- The shed that surrounds the building on two sides in the shape of the English letter (L). 4- The roof that surrounds the building on three sides except the side (wall) of the qibla, in the shape of the English letter (U). 5- Double shed. With the mention of the different models for each type, and the clarification of the plan of the building that each shed precedes, the study has reached a set of results that we pray to God Almighty to serve as a new, correct vision about the shape of the shed, its construction geometry, and its types in Ottoman architecture in particular, and Islamic architecture in general.
