Notes Throughout its history, the State of Kuwait has faced great challenges in order to gain its independence and get rid of foreign dependency. It made great efforts to first get rid of the dependence on the Ottoman Empire, but in return it was forced to enter into a protection treaty with Britain in 1316 AH / 1899 AD, and it remained so until it was able to gain its independence in the year 1381 AH / 1961 AD, and then it was exposed to another crisis represented by the exit of Iraqi President Abdul Karim Qasim, demanding the annexation of Kuwait, given that it was a mayor of the state of Basra during the Ottoman rule, and the government of the Soviet Union supported its ally, President Abdul Karim Qasim, in that crisis, and refused to recognize the independence of Kuwait. It also rejected all forms of communication with the Kuwaiti government, and because it had veto power in the UN Security Council, it was able to obstruct the issue of recognition. Kuwait's membership in the United Nations. The matter remained like this until a coup occurred in Iraq that overthrew Iraqi President Abd al-Karim Qasim in 1382 AH/1963 AD. The Kuwaiti government at that time seized the opportunity and reconnected with the Soviet government, which finally changed its mind and recognized Kuwait’s independence, established full diplomatic relations with it, and voted in its favor in the Security Council in 2013. 1383 AH / 1963 AD. It has suffered another crisis in Iraq President's Abdulkarim Qassim claim to annex the State of Kuwait, on the grounds that it was in the territory of Vilayet of Basra during Ottoman rule. The Government of the Soviet Union supported its ally President Abdulkarim Qassim in The Crisis and refused to recognize the independence of Kuwait, and also refused all forms of communication with the Kuwait Government. Because it has the (VETO) in the international security council It was able to abstract the issue of recognition of Kuwait's membership in the United Nations and it remained that way Until a Revolution occurred in Iraq overthrew Iraqi President Abdulkarim Qassim in 1963 AD (1382 H). then the Kuwait Government took the opportunity and re-established contact with Soviet Union Government which recently changed opinion and recognized the independence of Kuwait and established full diplomatic relations and it voted favor of it in the Security Council.
