Notes
This study deals with recording and documenting one of the landmarks of the architectural and cultural heritage in the city of Taif, which is Al-Kaki Palace, which is still largely in its original condition, in terms of its location in the Al-Salama neighborhood, and its architectural composition of three floors, some of its units allocated for reception, while those located on the inside were used for the residence and living of the people of the palace with a group of service facilities such as bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, etc. The palace was also surveyed and followed up architecturally through architectural lifting and the work of sectors and engineering discharges. For the decorations and units of the palace, in addition to making an inventory and studying the inscriptions on its walls and facades, and trying to imagine the completion of some of its vanished parts. The study reached a set of results and recommendations, including an emphasis on the extent of the cultural prosperity that Taif witnessed in the late Ottoman era, and that the urban fabric of the old city of Taif at the end of the Ottoman era did not include spaces that would allow the construction of huge facilities. The study also showed that the architecture and decoration of Al-Kaki Palace took place in two main stages, the first included the construction of the ground and first floors. The second phase included the construction of the second floor and some artistic formations and inscriptions. The architecture and decoration of the units of Al-Kaaki Palace were also influenced by many factors, especially religious, environmental, social and economic, as well as some imported influences. The study recommended the necessity of restoring and rehabilitating Al-Kaaki Palace and benefiting from it in the tourism development of Taif.
