Humans are the species of beings that live on earth as a community and determine their relationships in society according to moral rules. For this reason, societies have made efforts throughout history to raise moral individuals. This has led to the formation of a moral system that belongs to every society and nation in all periods. The Ottoman Empire, which ruled over a large geography, was one of the societies that, despite having various cultures, created an understanding of morality that merged with the Islamic religion and the customs and traditions of the Turkish society. Scholars living in the Ottoman Empire worked to develop this understanding of morality and transfer it to the next generation. Diyarbakırlı Mehmet Said Pasha is an important statesman and scientist who lived in the last period of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century and worked on morality. In our study, first of all, the prominent works on morality in the Ottoman Empire will be briefly mentioned. Then, brief information will be given about the life and books of Diyarbakırlı Mehmet Said Pasha. In the last part, the understanding of morality will be revealed in the context of the book Tabsıratü'l-İnsan written by Said Pasha. Our analysis shows that Said Pasha addressed the issue of morality from a logical and emotional perspective. The thinker, who makes personalizations in his work, tries to convey with a fable-style narrative what struggles he had to go through throughout his life in order to be a moral person. He turned his work into a novel, in which he personalizes the spiritual conflict that a person may encounter from birth to death and describes his thoughts. While explaining his understanding of morality, Said Pasha determines that the first concept that a person encounters in his struggle for self-discipline is the feeling of lust, which he is seriously affected by, even though he does not like it very much, and then he defines it as ignorance, greed, lies, etc. He continues his statements with negative emotions. In Said Pasha's thought, the mind is considered as the power that tries to tame both the soul and lust and other negative emotions. The mind, which is the main character in the book, advises us that people should act rationally, without deviating from the rules set by religion in every action. The character of mind, which is a moral educator, is the family elder and teacher who guides a person until he reaches the desired perfection. He shows people the right path by telling them what is wrong and tries to direct them to the right path. People rebel from time to time and move away from reason from time to time. However, later he gives up on the negativities that have happened to him and runs to his mind to ask for forgiveness. The mind helps the person who understands his mistake and asks for forgiveness to correct his mistakes and find the truth by giving advice and showing the right path. This study aims to contribute to the field of Moral Philosophy by explaining how Diyarbakırlı Mehmet Said Pasha handled and based the concept of morality and how he tried to convey it to people.
