This research focused on the field of British-French competition on the southern coast of the Red Sea (Yemen) during a period limited to (1762-1802 AD), examining the beginnings of the presence of each country in the region and how it established its interests in terms of trying to establish good relations with the rulers of the region, especially the imams of Yemen, and improving their relationship with the Ottoman Empire, which had sovereignty over the region. Which raised fears and doubts about each other, and the field of competition was opened between them. It was in the form of political and commercial interactions at times and in the form of military confrontations at other times, the most prominent of which occurred as a result of the French invasion of Egypt in 1798 AD and the resulting effects on the Red Sea region as a whole. These were attempts for each of them to achieve more political and economic gains in the Red Sea.
