Notes The research revealed the defensive fortifications of the city of Algiers in the Ottoman era. Pointing out that Algeria knew different types of military buildings, which differed according to the strength or weakness of the governments that succeeded it, and the forms of colonialism to which it was exposed. He touched on presenting a geographical and historical overview of it. He explained its general appearance. He talked about its port, its city wall, which was 2500 meters long, and its gates. He covered its towers, including the Kasbah, Al-Kifan, Tamantvost, Baba Azoun, the English, the New Tower, Marsa Al-Dhuban, the Emperor, the Bouleila Tower or the (24) Hour Tower, the Bahr and the Central Towers, Qilat Al-Foul, Al-Fanar, Sardines, Al-Quman, and Ras Al-Mall. He showed the materials from which these towers were built and a description of the cannons that were placed in them. The results of the research confirmed that these fortifications formed important strategic points that were able, for long periods of Ottoman occupation, to play an important role in repelling attacks by European enemies aspiring to control Algeria.
