The research deals with the agency system in transactions between craftsmen of various sects, in Cairo in the Ottoman era. The agency system has been a system that has been followed since ancient times, as the agent replaces the employer in the event of his absence or circumstances that prevent his presence. There are types of agency such as: public and private agency, meaning that the agent replaces the principal in many important and necessary matters. Such as agency in social matters, economic transactions, industrial activity in particular, and commercial activity, and also agency in the field of purchasing real estate and supervising endowments in all activities that the principal needs the agent; Such as the husband’s agency over his wife, and vice versa, in many matters pertaining to their lives, and the agency system is still used today in all life activities in Egypt. Because this system makes many matters easier for the client, who may be traveling or sick, etc., the agency system is considered one of the important topics in the history of Ottoman Egypt. This has made its great importance clear because it is recorded in the records of the Sharia courts, which gives the research special importance. The research deals with the agency system in transactions between craftsmen of various sects in Cairo during the Ottoman era. The agent replaces the principal in many important and necessary matters as social matters, economic transactions, industrial activity in particular, commercial activity, the field of buying buildings, supervising exhibitions and all the activities that the principal needs to the agent; Such as the agency of the husband to his wife, and vice versa in many matters that concern their lives. The system of agency still applies till date in all activities of life in Egypt. It makes it easier for the principal in many matters as his traveling or sick and so on. The agency system is considered one of the important topics in the history of Ottoman Egypt. So, it’s recorded in the records of the Sharia courts and this gives the research a special importance.
