The Ottoman sultanate is an important document in the study of the Ottoman states. It gives detailed information about the geography of the state and its history. It is also rich in information about the administrative divisions of the state, its cities and regions and the names of its employees, as well as political, economic, social and educational aspects. In this context. Our study (Tal Afar through the Ottoman sultanate 1849-1918 study in its general conditions) dealt with the city of Tall Afar, which lies to the west of Mosul. Since its occurrence under Ottoman control in 1518, it has become a subsidiary of Sinjak Sinjar and its administrative destiny was associated with the fate of Sinjar, It remained so until 1849, when the name Tal Afar was explicitly mentioned alongside Sinjak Sinjar within the wilaya of Mosul. In addition to the administrative situation of Tal Afar during the Ottoman period and its administrative apparatus, this research covered other aspects of Tal Afar and its education, as well as the Ottoman army and the Ottoman gendarmerie.
