International relations in Middle Eastern countries suffer from the characteristic of imbalance and lack of independence. Due to the fact that it is still influenced by the foreign policy of the great powers, and due to several other factors that have historically contributed to shaping the shape of the international relations of the Middle Eastern countries, such as the centuries-long devotion to the Ottoman Empire and the long quest for independence from it, as well as the quest for independence from the European colonial countries as a next stage. This article deals with the historical sequence of the development of the form of diplomatic and political relations in the Middle East in order to determine the reality of the political developments that occurred in the course of international relations in the Middle East, especially between the First and Second World War, during which the form of most of the countries in the region was formulated. The article also addresses the political role of the great powers and their relations with the countries of the Middle East before and after the emergence of the United States of America as a competing power with the European powers, as well as the impact of each power on the continuity of the intra-Arab world relations under Western influence. The article also addresses the events on which these international relations between the Arab countries with each other are based on the one hand, and on the other hand the reality of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the political tension occurring in the Arab world. The article relied on foreign opinions, viewpoints, and sources with the aim of providing the Arab reader with a general concept and presentation about what was written and published in languages other than Arabic about the development of international relations in the Middle East since the collapse of the Ottoman Empire until the 1990s.
