The research is concerned with studying the Ottoman Al-Fudain Castle as a landmark of Ottoman Islamic architecture in the city of Mafraq, as a case study on the castles that were established during the Ottoman rule in the region along the Hajj Al-Shami Trail, whose goal was to maintain security and as rest stops for pilgrims and provide the necessary services to them as they passed through them. The research reviews the historical importance of Mafraq and the archaeological site of Al-Fudain in it. It also shows the most important historical stages, developments and events that took place there. It then sheds light on the building of the Ottoman Al-Fudain Castle in terms of analyzing the general location, then the architectural and structural characteristics of the castle, studying its constituent spaces and the functional description of each space. The research concludes by presenting a vision of the architectural form of the castle as it was before its demolition by comparing it with similar Ottoman castles that bear the same architectural style and were established in the same period and in the same region.
