Anyone who traces the history of the Algerian endowments during the Ottoman period will see the importance of the role that these endowments played in the life of Algerian society, as they were based on caring for the affairs of scholars, taking care of the needs of the poor, the needy, widows, and orphans, promoting education, providing public service, repairing roads, digging wells, and spending on forts. Evidence of this is the presence of many huge charitable institutions that arose under the endowment and with its support.
