Notes The research deals with the publication and study of two rare wooden boxes for storing the keys of the Kaaba, made in Mecca, one dated to the year 1146 AH, and the other dated to the year 1197 AH. These two boxes date back to the Ottoman era. The study described each box separately in an accurate scientific description, explaining its shape, writings, and decorations, and analyzed the writings and decorations that came on them in light of their functional role. The study concluded that: The first box, dated 1146 AH, dates back to the reign of Sultan Mahmud I (1168-1143 AH/1730-1754 AD) during the emirate of Sharif Masoud bin Saeed bin Zaid as emir of Mecca during his second period (1146-1165/1734-1752 AD), while the second box, dated 1197 AH, dates back to the period of his rule. Sultan Abdul Hamid I, who ruled between the years (1187-1203 AH / 1773-1789 AD) during the emirate of Sharif Surur bin Musaed, the Sharif of Mecca, who assumed the emirate (1186-1203 AH / 1772-1789 AD), The study explained the method of making each of them and the method of their work, especially since they were intended for storing the keys of the Holy Kaaba. As far as we know and in light of what we have received, we do not know of wooden boxes of this type for storing the keys of the Kaaba that have previously been published or studied. Hence comes the scarcity and importance of these two boxes. There is no doubt that their careful scientific study makes them a new and important addition to wooden antiques in general, and boxes for storing the keys of the Kaaba in particular, noting that there are many studies and research that have published a set of keys to the Holy Kaaba. Which date back to various Islamic eras, and museums keep a collection of them, especially the Holy Secrets Hall in the Topkapu Saray Museum in Istanbul, Turkey. However, the boxes in which these keys are kept have not previously been published in museums, but perhaps the museum stores in the Topkabu Saray Museum in Istanbul hold analogues of these two boxes or the stores of other museums.
