Eastern Christianity was severely affected under Ottoman rule, after the Greek Patriarch's control over most of the Chalcedonian Christian sects in the Arab world was firmly established; This resulted in the restructuring of Eastern Christianity, and the outbreak of many conflicts and conflicts between these sects, for several reasons, including resistance to Greek hegemony. This paper addresses one aspect of these conflicts between Christian sects in Egypt, through a dispute between the monks of the Monastery of St. Catherine in Sinai and the Patriarch of the Christian Monarchy in Egypt in the seventeenth century, and how to summon local authorities to resolve this conflict, and formulate the pillars of this dispute in legal and jurisprudential texts.
