Notes The research aimed to identify the development of Ottoman carpet decoration from the eighth to the twelfth centuries AH (fourteenth to eighteenth centuries AD). The research relied on the descriptive method, the analytical method, and the historical method to achieve its goal. The research explained the factors that influenced the carpet industry, including raw materials, industry centers, and the stage of extracting the industry material. There are also artistic influences on the carpet industry, and we cannot ignore the Mamluk influence on the carpet industry in the Ottoman era, especially since this industry was one of the flourishing industries in Egypt throughout the Mamluk era. As for the Iranian influence on the Ottoman carpet industry, it appears clearly in the design of some types of carpets produced by the city of lovers. The research concluded with a set of results, including that the arts are a link between different peoples. Each people is influenced by the arts of other peoples with whom it is connected or influenced. This influence and influence also varies in strength and weakness according to the circumstances under which these people live. The features of the Turkish-Islamic civilization were also distinguished by the combination of their pre-Islamic heritage, and the Arab-Persian heritage they found in Asia Minor.
