Notes
Ahmed Naîm Efendi is a versatile scholar from the remnant of the Ottoman Empire. He has many works on philosophy, hadith, Islamic ethics and theology. When these works are examined, it is seen that the author is a person who needs to be read/understood due to his writings and scientific position, as well as the political-ideal environment he is in. Likewise, knowing him is also important in terms of understanding the characteristics of the turbulent transition period in which he lived. As a matter of fact, Ahmed Naîm performed many high-level administrative duties in terms of his duties. Chief among these are his teaching position at the Philosophy Branch of Dârülfünûn, which is considered the first university of the Ottoman Empire, and the rector of the same university for a while. In addition, he is among the leading writers of the Sırât-ı Müstakîm/Sebîlürreşâd circle. Some of these articles are about kalam and sirah. On the other hand, it is important to know the thoughts of Ahmed Naîm, who lived in a period when the needs for the renewal of theology were expressed, as well as his thoughts on this subject, as well as on general theology.
