Notes This study deals with the gates of Jerusalem in the Fatimid and Seljuk eras by studying the information found in various historical sources, contemporary research that dealt with this topic, and the results of archaeological techniques conducted from the end of the nineteenth century until today near the Ottoman city wall and its gates (Figure: 1). The study presents new distributions of the chapters mentioned by al-Maqdisi at the beginning of the Fatimid era until the year 425 AH/1033 AD, the date of the earthquake that struck the city of Jerusalem. This study also presents the changes that occurred in the number of doors and their locations within the city wall after the earthquake, and presents a list of new doors and their locations within the city wall until the year 492 AH/1099 AD. In reviewing the issue of the distribution of the gates of Jerusalem, the study evaluates other historical sources and contemporary studies based on them.
