Commentaries, annotations, and similar works have been written about this book by distinguished scholars from each period since the day it was compiled. One of the scholars who worked on “al-Hidâya” was Süleyman Sirri Efendi (from Armenia) (d. 1931), a late Ottoman scholar who was a teacher of Beyazıt dersiâmlığı, Mektebe-i Hukûk, and Dârülfünun. Sirri Efendi compiled a work entitled Îzâhu’l-Hidâye on al-Hidâya. This valuable work, which emerged as a result of a serious study between 1908 and 1914 is unfortunately unknown today.
