| Notes | This research is concerned with identifying all pottery and ceramic patterns dating back to the Islamic historical periods and discovered - up to the present time - in archaeological sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The existence of scientific deficiency among researchers and scholars is clearly evident due to the availability of a documented scientific survey of the types, types and styles of Islamic pottery and ceramics - surface and layered - discovered in the lands of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There is no doubt that the availability of such a study will help enhance comparative analytical studies on Islamic pottery. The research problem lies in the lack of scientific research directed in particular to the field of Islamic pottery and ceramics studies. The lack of scientific facilities for researchers may be one of the reasons behind this. This research aims to monitor, document and classify the found pottery and ceramic patterns that were published in the form of reports, research and scientific studies as a direct result of archaeological surveys and excavations carried out in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The topic of this research was addressed according to the following scientific axes, which are: First: Pottery in the era of the Prophet and the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (may God be pleased with them all): Second: Umayyad pottery. Third: Unglazed Abbasid pottery. Fourth: Abbasid glazed pottery. Fifth: Mamluk and Ottoman pottery and porcelain. |
