Notes Tal Afar is a city whose history goes back to ancient times, and it was famous for its Assyrian citadel known as (Tal Afar Citadel). In the Ottoman era, it had political, administrative and economic importance, especially as it was one of the first Iraqi cities to enter the Ottoman Empire in the year 1516 AD. Therefore, in the context of forming a comprehensive historical picture of the history of Iraq in the Ottoman era with its cities and towns, we chose this research. Titled (Tal Afar in the late Ottoman era: a political, administrative, and economic study). The research was divided into an introduction and three sections with their political, administrative, and economic titles. The political section referred to the entry of Tal Afar into Ottoman control and the political events therein, with a focus on the Ottoman military campaigns against Tal Afar, the most famous of which was the campaign of Muhammad Pasha Ince Bayrakdar in the year 1841 AD. As for the administrative section, it touched on Tal Afar’s administrative subordination and its administrative apparatus as a (district). The research also referred to urban landmarks, the municipality department, and other topics, and the economic research included: agriculture, animal husbandry, trade, and others. The research relied on a group of sources, which are: Ottoman documents, manuscripts, Ottoman books, university theses, Arabic, Ottoman, Turkish, and English books, research, studies, and others. .
