A copy, incomplete at the beginning, of a commentary by Nafīs ibn ʿIwaḍ al-Kirmānī (Nafis ibn Awad al-Kirmanī; d. approximately 1449) on
Causes and Indications
(الأسباب والعلامات; see Or. 5687), a medical reference work on the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of diseases compiled by Najib al-Din Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn 'Alī ibn 'Umar al-Samarqandī (Najib al-Din Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Omar al-Samarqundi, d.
Al-Kirmānī completed this commentary in 827/1424 and dedicated it to his Timurid patron Ulugh Beg (Algh Bik, d. 1449), governor of Samarqand from 812-853/1409-1449 (see f. 346r, lines 20-22, transcribed below).
The present copy was completed in late Shawwāl 981/January-February 1574, by the scribe Aḥmad ibn Badr al-Dīn al-Ḥijāzī (Ahmad ibn Badr al-Din al-Hijazi; see
