Notes Arabic version of the Dimensions circle (Κύκλου μέτρησις; On the Breaking of the Circle) by the mathematician (Ἀρχιμήδης; Archimedes; fl. 3rd century BC). The diagrams are collected on a fold out (f. 238r) following the text. Begins (f. 231v, line 11-f. 232r, line 2): ...Archimedes' treatise on crushing The circle is three shapes. Each circle is equal to a right-angled triangle One of the suburbs of the circumference of a right angle is equal to the radius of that surface The circle... Ends (f. 237r, lines 9-11): The ratio of the square of the diameter to the surface The circle is a ratio of twenty-eight to twenty-two, or even a ratio of fourteen to one Ten, that's what we wanted...
