Ancient instrument for astronomical observations.
quadrant (Quarter of arches) by Badr al-Dīn Abū ‘Abd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Shāfi‘ī al-Miṣrī al-Dimashqī (Badr al-Din Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Shafi’i al-Masri al-Dimashqi, b. 1423), known as Sibṭ al-Māridīnī (tribe of al-Māridīnī), timekeeper (timekeeper) of the al-Azhar Mosque at Cairo.
The treatise comprises an introduction, thirty chapters, and a conclusion.

Sheikh Imam Al-Allamah Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Ahmad Abu Al-Mahasin said
Badr al-Din al-Shafi’i, the curator at Al-Azhar Mosque, the son of Sheikh
The righteous, pious and ascetic, the late Jamal al-Din al-Mardini
Ends (f. 38v, lines 2-9):
...And as for the half of the excess that was thickened
There are many of them, so it is correct to place the full slant on [...]
And see if the string is cut from the ladder, hit it in the shadow of the load
He gets what he wants and does not stop working
The ladder is in the arches for its need
To the pocket and account
