Medical text on smallpox and measles (Smallpox and measles) composed during an outbreak of those two diseases at Mosul in 1223/1808-9, by Muḥammad Badīʿ (Muḥammad Badīʿ, see f. 159v, lines 5-7). Muḥammad Badīʿ was a son of the Ottoman litterateur, poet and physician of Mosul. Mufti ibn Mahmud Effendi, d. ca 1812, see Raʾūf, 'al-Adīb al-ṭabīb Muḥammad Amīn Bek Āl Yāsīn al-Muftī al-Mawṣilī' [2016]), the author of the
Speedy Cure and Guaranteed Remedy
(Speed recovery and sufficient medicine), extracts of which are found on ff. 1v-2r, 3v-90v (in margins), 140v-145r, 165v-171r.

Praise be to God, the Creator of Heaven, the Creator of Adam, peace be upon him, and his teacher of the names, destined
Medicines and the Creator of medicine, and prayers and peace be upon the Master of the Prophets
And upon his family and pure companions, and after that, the one who confesses to a bad deed says:
The helpless, weak, Muhammad Badie...
Ends (f. 163r, lines 12-21):
It is beneficial to water the harvested crop with cold water, squeezed fennel water, and water
Grilled large pumpkin in the oven, soursop water, and zareshk water
Cotton seed saliva is more beneficial for the crop, just as pomegranate water is more beneficial
For the braided, barley water and yellow lentils are beneficial for them
Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds
