Encyclopaedia of practical astronomy and astronomical instruments by Sharaf al-Din Abū ‘Alī al-Ḥasan ibn ‘Alī ibn ‘Umar al-Marrākushī (Sharaf al-Din Abu Ali al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Omar al-Marrakshi, fl. second half of the 13th century). The treatise was composed in the years 1276-82 (see Charette, 2007, p. 740).
The text is divided into four books (Arts), further subdivided variously into sections, chapters, parts, propositions, and questions. A list of the four books is found on f. 2r:
Book One: Computational Methods (The First Art of Computation, ff. 2r-49r);
Book Two: The Construction of Instruments (The Second Art of Laying Instruments, ff. 49r-188r);
Book Three: Using Instruments (The Third Art of Working with Instruments, ff. 188r-270r);
Book Four: Questions (The Fourth Art in Mutarahat, ff. 270r-285r).
The copy was completed on 3 Ṣafar 1074/6 September 1663 by Kalb (?) ‘Alī ibn Ṣafarqalī Sāwikh (?) Balāghī (Kalb Ali ibn Safarqali Sawakh Balaghi, see
