Notes Treatise on pharmacopoeia arranged head to toe by ailment by Najīb al-Dīn Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn ‘Alī ibn ‘Umar al-Samarqandī (Najib al-Din Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Omar al-Samarqandī, d. 1222). Beginnings (f. 99v, lines 2-6): Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, praise be to those who are thankful, and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad and his entire family The Book of Al-Qarabadhin on the Order of Causes, Part One In medicines for headaches, a copy of cacao seeds is beneficial for headaches and headache medicines The head became dark due to the dampness, and the water began to boil, and it amounted to ten dirhams. Sakimunya is two dirhams and a half of tarbāḥ and Astokhodus of each one has five, which is ten sherbet... Ends (f. 163r, line 19-f. 163v, line 6): ...and if he experiences bladder cramps, drink lentil stew and almond fat or... butter or ghee, and he goes to the bathroom every day after drinking it and is locked up until he urinates in the urine and uses moisturizing food. From eating fattened chickens, drinking wine, avoiding the cold, and giving water to a lot of chickens. With a handful of peeled lentils in lukewarm water after he has served the offspring in the curd for a day and a night, he should use the curd and do it. Three times, and it is sufficient to complete the offerings.
