Astrological treatise on Arab hegemony and its duration by the philosopher Ya‘qūb ibn Isḥāq al-Kindī (Yaqub ibn Ishaq al-Kindi; d. ca 873).

colophon
Section at the end of a manuscript text.
(f. 178r, lines 3-4, transcribed below) states that the text was copied from an exemplar dated mid-Rabī‘ I 531/December 1136.
Appended to the text are philosophical definitions that the scribe claims to have found in his exemplar (f. 178r-178v). There are followed (f. 178v) by a few lines containing a summarised note on the creation of the world (brief evidence of the world event) attributed to Abū al-Ḥasan ‘Alī Ibn Riḍwān (Abu al-Hasan Ali Ibn Ridwan; d. ca 1061).

Begins (f. 175v, lines 6-8):
May God help you to accept wisdom, inspire you to understand philosophy, and make your path easy and smooth
You have its ways, and I do not see you hated by His mercy. I asked, may God honor you if you do so
The words that you heard me tell from the book of God Almighty regarding the knowledge and quantity of the king of the Arabs...
Ends (f. 177v, line 26-178r, line 1):
...And with Scorpio between the Arabs one another, and with Sagittarius between the Turks and with Capricorn
Between the army, the Zanj, and India, and the bucket, between the blackness and Kufa, and the mountains, and the whale
