Notes A Persian treatise on the fretting of musical instruments, by Qāsim ibn Dūst ʿAlī Bukhārī. The present copy was completed by the scribe Muḥammad Amīn in Delhi on 19 Rabīʿ II 1075/9 October 1664 (see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 246r, lines 7-9). A diagram in red ink labeled in Persian, 'A musical circle copied from a Frankish [European] book', has been added at the end of the treatise (f. 246r). Begins (f. 240v, lines 1-3): The songs of Hamad Kamela Hakim Karsazi are the greatest honor that you sing at Liban Kolshan, may God bless you. The Lord, the Lord of the angels, and the soul, is the gift of His presence, and the song of thanksgiving includes the generosity of the servant. The melodiousness of the chickens in the grass of Fazakron from the turmeric...
