Notes Formulary or pharmacopoeia by Badr al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Bahrām ibn Muḥammad al-Qalānisī al-Samarqandī (Badr al-Dīn Muhammad ibn Bahram ibn Muhammad al-Qalānsi al-Samarqandī, fl. 1194) divided into forty-nine chapters (chapter). The chapters are listed with their titles in the preface (f. 2r-2v). The copy was completed on 1 Jumādá II 988/14 July 1580 by ‘Abd Allāh ibn Maulānā ‘Arab Kaḥḥāl (Abdullah ibn Maulānā Arab Kahal, see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 110v, lines 13-14, transcribed below). Begins (fol. 1v, lines 2-3): Praise be to God, the Wise, the Omnipotent, the Mighty, the Powerful, the One who is unique in eternity, the One in eternity, the Good in the secrets, the All-Seeing in the consciences. Who brought us out of nothingness into existence by His grace and placed over us a canopy of its height and set up for us the standard of His justice... Ends (f. 110v, lines 8-11): ... A bear's hair is taken from its tail and placed on the ear If a person drinks wine, he does not become intoxicated as long as the hair is on his ear, said Abdullah Ibn Gabriel In his selections of the natures and properties of animals, this has been examined It reduces sugar very much, and God knows best Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text.
