Notes Commentary by Muḥammad Kāẓim ibn ‘Abd al-‘Alī al-Tankābunī (Muhammad Kadhim Abd al-Ali al-Tankābunī, d. after 1623-4, see al-Amīn, Mustadrakāt a‘yān al-shī‘ah , vol. 2, p. 308) on the Anatomy of the Spheres (Anatomy of the Heavens) by al-Tankābunī’s teacher Bahā’ al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Ḥusayn al-‘Āmilī (Baha al-Din Muhammad ibn Husayn al-Amili; d. 1621). The title of the commentary is mentioned on f. 3v, line 9. Al-Tankābunī completed his commentary at Mashhad on 6 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1007/30 June 1599 (see ff. 159v, line 6-160r, line 1, transcribed below), and dedicated it to the Safavid sultan Abū al-Muẓaffar Shāh ‘Abbās (I) al-Ḥusaynī al-Mūsawī (Abu al-Muzaffar Shah Abbas al-Husayni al-Musawi al-Safavi, reg. 1587-1629, see f. 4v, lines 5-6). The text contains numerous diagrams. The copy was completed on 8 Rajab 1033/26 April 1624 by Muḥammad Sa‘īd ibn Ḥājjī (?) Muḥammad al-Kīlānī (Muhammad Sa`id bin Haji [?] Muhammad al-Kilani, see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 160r, lines 6-8, transcribed below). Begins (f. 1v, lines 2-5): Praise be to God who explained our chests to dissect the celestial bodies The end of realization and blessings be upon His Prophet, Malkhas The world of futuwa and the end of understanding in Taqasim The spheres of prophecy... Ends (ff. 159v, line 6-160r, line 4): ...I have rested from (?) This explanation was transferred from blackness to whiteness with help God, the sovereign King, I am not free from Dhul-Hijjah In the year one thousand and seven of the Hijra, the best of the wild is better than the bald (?)
