A short inventory of sciences by Zakarīyā ibn Muḥammad al-Anṣārī (Zakaria ibn Muhammad al-Ansari c. 1423-c. 1520) encompassing subjects found in the second and main text of the present manuscript,
Fatḥ al-ḥayy al-qayyūm shareḥ rawḍat al-fuhūm
(Fath al-Hayy al-Qayyum Sharh Rawdat al-Fahum; Or 9868 ff. 3v-393v), as well as other branches of learning including veterinary science, moral law and agriculture.
The text lacks a
colophon
Section at the end of a manuscript text.
but was apparently added to the opening flyleaves of the present manuscript by an individual who also left marginal notes on the latter.
Begins (f. 1v, line 1-2):
Praise be to God who honored those who endowed him with knowledge and work and decorated him with guidance destined in eternity
May peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of His creation, God Almighty, and upon his family and companions, who are free from foolishness and error.
Ends (f. 3r, lines 2-3):
...and as orthodox science
Even if it is included in educational science, it has singled out a separate science, and God knows best what is correct, and to Him is the reference and the return.
