Notes An anonymous list of definitions of fifty philosophical terms useful for physicians. The text is defective at the end, and contains only forty-eight definitions. The author states that he has bridged his definitions from the practical section ( al-juz’ al-‘ilmī ) of a work called Tadhkarat al-ḥāḍir wa-zād al-musāfir , which may be a variant title for Ibn al-Jazzār’s (d. 980) well-known medical handbook Zād al-musāfir wa-qūt al-ḥāḍir (see f. 55v, lines 4-5, transcribed below; and Ullmann, Medicin in Islam , 1970, pp. 147-48). Begins (f. 55v, lines 2-7): Praise be to God for the frequency of the verse, and I thank Him for the purity of His blessings He realized his greatness and a grimace befitting his pride. As for what follows, I... It has been summarized from the book entitled “Remembrance of the Present” and more Traveler In the origins of the medical industry I mean the scientific part It is a small book with a large appearance and I nicknamed it the kindergarten Medical... Ends (ff. 81v, line 13-82r, line 1): ...But if it changes its strength, it will not be done It has this, but rather it differs instead of what is analyzed or not This is just as he presents to the sheikhs and those who will be in charge of them [f. 82r] Weakness of the organs due to bad mood Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text.
