Notes Treatise on pharmacology by Najīb al-Dīn Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn ‘Alī ibn ‘Umar al-Samarqandī (Najib al-Din Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Umar al-Samarqandī, d. 1222). The treatise comprises nineteen chapters (sections), and a table of contents is found on f. 5r-v. Begins (f. 2v, lines 2-5): Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the best of His creation, Muhammad and his pure family All together, the brilliant Sheikh Imam, piety, the protector of religion and religion, said, “The sign of eternity.” Muhammad bin Ali bin Omar Al-Samarqandi, may God have mercy on him. It is the duty of every person of heart to draw near To God Almighty... Ends (f. 36r, lines 17-22): ...Then it is extracted, pounded, and the remainder is added to it It is also crushed and mixed together well Finely grind a piece of saffron and dissolve it in water Hot, it thickens easily and coats the hair quickly Before it cools and leaves to dry and repeat that I need it Badr makes the tannins yarang if it is not intended to be intensely black Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text.
