Notes A list of laxative drugs by Najīb al-Dīn Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn ‘Alī ibn ‘Umar al-Samarqandī (Najib al-Din Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Umar al-Samarqandi, d. 1222). Beginnings (f. 113v, lines 1-2): This is a message by Najib al-Din Muhammad Ibn Ali Ibn Omar al-Samarqandi on laxatives Absinthe, hot in the first second and dry in the first, is the best... Ends (f. 115v, lines 6-10): ... Sweet, cold pomegranate It is moist in the first and sour and cold and dry in the second.
