An introduction to medicine and compendium of medical terminology in three chapters (
funūn
), each subdivided into sections (
aqsām
) and headings (
fusūl
), by Masʿūd ibn Muḥammad al-Sijzī (Masoud bin Muhammad al-Sijzī, fl. before 1334).
The treatise, the title of which is given in the preface (f. 1v, line 15), is dedicated to a vizier by the name of Ṣadr al-Dawlah Abī al-Mufākhir Qāsim ibn ʿIrāq ibn Jaʿfar (Sadr al-Dawla […] Abu al-Mafakhir Qasim ibn Iraq ibn Ja`far, see f. 1v, lines 5-7, transcribed below).
Contents:
Chapter One: On things pertaining to the general [principles] of medicine and notes to make them easier to understand
Chapter Two: On instructions for the processes and productions related to the principles of medicine (The Second Art in the How of Business and Industries Related to the Principles of Medicine, ff. 23r-30v);
Chapter Three: On how many sections [medical] matters are divided into generally [on medical theory, arranged by number of conceptual divisions] (ff. 30v-34v). The tenth and last section of this chapter is not found in the present copy.
The text is followed by three folios of mixed contents: an entry on weights and measures used in medical books (f. 35r); a short treatise on the pulse attributed to the physician and translator Ḥubaysh ibn al-Ḥasan (Hubaysh ibn al-Ḥasan, here written erroneously as Ḥubaysh al-Ḥusayn [Hubaysh al-Ḥusayn]), nephew and pupil of the physician and translator Ḥunayn ibn Isḥāq (Hunayn ibn Ishaq, d. 873; ff. 35r-36v); And recipes for a draft to ease stomach-pains and a stimulant electuary (ff. 36v-37v).

Praise be to God for his frequent hands and trickling deeds, and prayers for the one who reveals grief
And the intercessor of the nation is Muhammad, and upon his pure family and pure companions, and after that, the servant is Masoud
Bin Muhammad Al-Sijzi, the doctor, may God grant him success for his truthful words and good deeds, says:
When I contacted the service of the eminent friend, the great master, the learned, the just, the next favorite supporter
Auspicious is the source of the state and religion, the foundation of Islam and Muslims, the king of the ministers of the East and
The West, Abu Al-Mafakhir Qasim bin Iraq bin Jaafar...
