Notes Commentary by Shihāb al-Dīn Abū al-‘Abbās Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ha’im al-Maqdisī al-Faraḍī (Shihāb al-Dīn Abu al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Ha’im al-Maqdisi al-Fardi, d. 1412), known as Ibn al-Hā’im (Ibn al-Ha’im) on the didactic poem (Arjuza) on algebra al-Manẓūmah al-Yāsamīnīyah fī al-jabr wa-al-muqābalah (The Jasmine system of algebra and contrast) by Abū Muḥammad ‘Abd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥajjāj ibn al-Yāsamīn al-Adrinī al-Ishbīlī (Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Hajjaj bin al-Yāsmin al-Adranī al-Ishbīlī, d. 1204). The copy was completed on the morning of Thursday 5 Sha‘bān 887/19 September 1482 (see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 105r, lines 11-14, transcribed below). A loose slip of paper containing mathematical notes in Arabic was found between ff. 73 and 74. Begins (f. 1r, lines 2-4): The Sheikh, the imam, the scholar, the master memorizer, the expert, the investigator, said: He is the only one of his time and the unique one of his time The virtuous and the sea of virtues, Abu Al-Abbas Shihab Al-Din Ahmed bin Al-Sheikh Al-Imam, the scholar Shams al-Din Muhammad, known as Ibn al-Haym, may God grant him abundant grace and benefit with his blessing, Amen Ends (f. 105r, lines 6-11): ...And if this is included in Zaid’s will and what remains For the heirs, the total was three hundred, and God Almighty knows best. This is the last thing he is pleased with For the least of His servants in the extravagance of His country, praise be to Him according to His will and thanks for the succession of conquests And its increase, and prayers and peace be upon Muhammad, who alone ruled over creation, and upon his family Those who were happy with his happiness, praise be to God alone, and may God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad and his family And his companions and peace be upon him...
