Medical compendium by Zayn al-Dīn Abū Ibrāhīm Ismā‘īl ibn Muḥammad al-Ḥusaynī al-Jurjānī (Zain al-Din Abu Ibrahim Ismail bin Muhammad al-Husayni al-Jurjani, d. 1136). He is also known as Ismā‘īl ibn al-Ḥasan (Ismail ibn al-Hasan) or ibn al-Ḥusayn (Ibn al-Husayn). The work is dedicated to the Khwārizm Shāh ‘Alā’ al-Dīn Qizil Arslān Atsiz ibn Muḥammad (Aladdin Qizil Arslān Atsiz ibn Muhammad, reg. 1127-56; see f. 2r, lines 10-12).
The text is said in the preface (ff. 1v, line 24 ult.-2r, line 1) to be divided into two sections (two parts): the Theoretical Section (the scientific part) and the Practical Section (the practical part). The Theoretical Section is divided into nine treatises (Article) further subdivided into chapters (Chapters), and a list of these treatises is found at the head of f. 2v.
It is clear how the text is to be divided into the two section mentioned in the preface, but major divisions in the text can be found at the following folios: 60r, 95v, 121v, 230v, 244v, and 248v.
There is a blank, unfoliated leaf between ff. 94 and 95.
Begins (f. 1v, lines 2-4):
Praise be to God Almighty, praise be to Him, and blessings be upon His Messenger, and peace be upon him and his family altogether, so know.
[...] medicine and the course of its affairs on [...] it and the conditions of the pulse and breathing
And knowing the conditions of urine [in which] there is dung, and the conditions of sweat and sputum, and knowing the two seas
Ends (f. 258r, lines 16-19):
...the animal known as the ear-worm
It causes severe pain that subsides after an hour, and perhaps using salt with vinegar is sufficient
Bless his friend
May God grant him long life
