Notes Five passages in Persian supposedly taken from the writings of Jābir ibn Ḥayyān. The main bulk of the corpus of texts attributed to this semi-legendary figure, however, are thought to have been composed between the second half of the 9th century and the first half of the 10th century. Since this text begins with the Testament of Ṭughrāʾī (d. 515/1121), it cannot be true that these passages were all extracted from writings attributed to Jābir ibn Ḥayyān. Begins (f. 66v, lines 2-5): The chapter of Moayeddin Abu Ismail al-Taghrai's will from oppressive measures He says, "My son, if you are afraid of a dervish, go to the mountain that is above you." And Twangari is growing, take it and he wants it by his own principle, that it is a string from him And he took up the gentle parts that sat on his stomach and this, and the great life of the great ones Ends (f. 67v, lines 11-15): ... and breath and soul And the body of Saturn and his body and Jupiter and the black feather is enough because it turned white again The other names of Tehand (?) are the fire of the wise, the fire of the wise, the fire of the sage, the moon of the moon, the copper, and the one that is dark. They say that white shame, white magnesia, and a white stone man They sing the moon and the moon and the sun and the sun
