Notes	Bibliographical encyclopaedia by the Ottoman scholar Muṣṭafā ibn ʿAbd Allāh (مصطفى بن عبد الله, d.1067/1657), also known as Kâtip Çelebi (كاتب چلبي) and Ḥājjī Khalīfah (حاجي خليفة). The work begins with an introductory section dealing with the classification of the science (ff. 1v-21v), followed by the main body of the encyclopaedia in which ca 14,500 books are listed alphabetically by title and given some commentary. This copy was corrected against the author's rough draft and the scribe added dates and other information missing from the original text along with details of books written after the author's death (see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 541r, lines 19-26, transcribed below). The copy was completed at dawn on Sunday, 4 Rabīʿ II 1170/16 December 1756 (see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 541r, lines 26-27, transcribed below). Begins (f. 1v, lines 2-3): زواهر نطق يلوح أنوار ألطافه من مطالع الكتب والصحائف وبواهر كلام يفوح أزهر أعطافه على صحفات العلوم والمعارف حمد الله الذي جعل زلال الكمال قلوت القلوب Ends (f. 541r, lines 9-13): ... ونستعيذه جل اسمه من دعاء لا يسمع وعلم لا ينفع وعمل لا يرفع فهو الجواد الذي لا يخيب من أمله ولا ينتصر من خذله ولا يرد دعوى القاصدين ولا يصلح عمل المفسدين وهو حسبنا ونعم الوكيل وصلوته على نبيه محمد خاتم النبيين وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين وسلم تسليمًا إلى يوم الدين والحمد لله رب العالمين Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. (f. 541r, lines 14-31): قد اتفق الفراغ عن تصحيح هذا الكتاب بعون عناية الملك الوهاب المشتهر بأسماء الكتب لدى أعيان الأفاضل والكتاب وقد أمرني بتصحيحه مَن هو ولي للعلماء الأعلام وصدر للفضلاء النبلاء الفهام والحال ان النسخ من هذا الكتاب قد تطرق فيها التحريف والتصحيف بكثرة الاستكتاب فامتثلت أمره بين الإقدام والإحجام لعلمي بما انطوى عليه من الإعجام مع ما فيّ من العجز والقصور والعيّ والفتور واشتغال الإفكار ومصابرة الإقدار فاعتمدت على عوائد مولاي الجليل في إقداره الجميل فشمرت ساعد الاجتهاد وأخذت في تحرير ما له قد أشاد بعد أن حصلت مسودة المؤلف ليكون الغلط من النساخ إذا الغالب عليهم أن يكونوا للكتب مساخ فتتبعت كل ما فيه من كتب ورسائل وحواشٍ وشروحٍ ومراسل بمراجعة كتب الطبقات والتواريخ التي تنوف عن أربعمائة مجل حتى جعلت كل كتاب بربه مؤيد وحررت وفيات المصنفين الأمجاد بعد أن كانت متفاوتة الأعداد وربما كان بعضهم خال عن ذكر زمن الوفاة فذكرته ليكون مكملًا غير مفتقر لما سواه وأدرجت على ترتيبه ما صنف بعده مما يعد وما فاته من الكتب والحواشي مما يوجد وكل ما ذكر فيه من بعد تأريخ وفاته فهو مضموم وما فات مصنفه مما ألف قبله فهو مفهوم حتى أشرق تمامه في وقت الإشراق من يوم الأحد الرابع من شهر ربيع الآخر لسنة سبعين ومائة بعد الألف السابع فنسأل الله سبحانه أن يجيزنا عليه من كرمه العميم وأن يجزل صلتنا برحمته إنه البر الرؤف اليرحيم وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وآله وصحبه وسلم تسليمًا والحمد لله رب العالمين
