The copy was completed in Rajab 668/February-March 1270 at the Madrasa Mubārak al-‘Izz in Cairo (Mubarak al-Izz School for Egypt) by ‘Alī ibn ‘Abd al-Khāliq al-Bahnasī (Ali ibn Abd al-Khaliq al-Bahnasi; see
colophon
Section at the end of a manuscript text.
, f. 226v, lines 14-16, transcribed below).
Begins (f. 2v, lines 2-4):
Muhammad bin Ali Ibn Omar Al-Muttabbab said: I have collected for myself what was in this volume
I need it urgently when seeing and treating patients, so that I can always be there
I can look into it with my hand and do without looking at various books...
Ends (f. 226v, lines 8-11):
Its treatment is that this animal bites hard and gives
From long rhubarb, caper root peels, gentian, and carnation flour
Parts, whether in syrup or honey water, and the slag flower are among its antidotes
Perhaps it is sufficient to use salt and vinegar on the bite site, God willing
