A commentary by Aḥmad ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq al-Sanbāṭī (Ahmad ibn Ahmad ibn Abd al-Haqq al-Sunbati, fl. 16th century) on the
Treatise on the Use of the Sine Quadrant
(The treatise on working with the answerable quarter) in twenty chapters (Chapter) by Badr al-Dīn Abū ‘Abd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Shāfi‘ī al-Miṣrī al-Dimashqī (Badr al-Din Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Shafi’i al-Masri al-Dimashqi, b. 1423, d. 1490), known as Sibṭ al-Māridīnī (Tribe of the Mardini), timekeeper (timekeeper) of the al-Azhar Mosque at Cairo.
The commentary is written out in black ink, and the text commented upon in red. Another copy of this text is found on ff. 123v-138v of the present volume.
Begins (f. 4v, lines 2-4):
Then the poor servant says to God Almighty, Ahmad ibn Ahmad ibn Abd al-Haqq al-Sunbati

The scholar Badr al-Din al-Mardini, may God Almighty have mercy on him, put it to her when you read it to our sheikh, the scholar

Ends (f. 17r, lines 19-23):
...So if you say...
A correct position when that planet is in the middle and passes through its degrees, it is determined that it is the first to rise
Fajr, and God Almighty knows best. There is no Lord other than Him, no deity other than Him, and there is no power or strength except in God.
The Most High, the Great, and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our Master and Lord Muhammad and his family and companions
Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds. It ended with praise and good help from God
